Profile Notes

About Adam and Eve in the Bible

Genesis 1-2 tells how God created mankind in His image, blessed the man and woman, and gave them responsibility over His creation. God formed Adam from the dust, placed him in Eden to work and keep the garden, and made Eve from Adam's side as his wife (Genesis 2:7, 15-25). Genesis 3 records the serpent's temptation, their disobedience, God's judgment, and His promise concerning the woman's offspring. God clothed Adam and Eve before sending them from the garden, and cherubim guarded the way to the tree of life (Genesis 3:14-24). Eve became the mother of Cain, Abel, Seth, and other sons and daughters (Genesis 4:1-2, 25; 5:4). The New Testament explains that sin and death came through Adam, while righteousness and life come through Jesus Christ, the last Adam (Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, 45-49).
